The top four cheapest places to live in the USA have been ranked, as the demand grows in the States for a lighter cost of living.
Hickory sits close to the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was dubbed the Best Affordable Place to Live in the US by the US News and World Report. Business Insider has also dubbed it one of the UK’s most affordable cities.
Housing is affordable, with a median home price of $161,000, and residents spend just 18.95% of their income (an average salary of $44,470 per year) on housing.

Fort Wayne is praised for its affordable housing and the fact that the cost of living in the town in 11 percent lower than the national average,
Jackson, Mississippi has much lower housing costs than the national average. It also boasts a history of blues music and Civil War intrigue.
According to US News and World Report, only 21.71% of the median household income is required to pay for housing in this city, making it a good choice when it comes to the cost of living.
